This week I've seen several Wilson's Warblers in the Garden. The males are bright yellow with a black cap on their head. They flit around in the low shrubs, so are easy to spot, especially amongst the blue flowers of the Ceanothus 'Concha' in the Meditation Garden.

We had the 80 kindergarteners from Meadows Elementary School through today to tour the garden, in 20 kid groups. What a blast. They are an enthusiastic audience and so full of knowledge just bursting to get out. The garden was just about as lovely as it can be, flowers, birds, bugs all captivating to the kids. We saw hummers, warblers, bush tits, even a western tanager.

I hope the photo of the warbler in the ceanothus will make it to the MBBG 2008 calendar! What a lovely, colorful photo.
